Dr Lee Rotherham is an author, research consultant, and a warrant officer in the army reserves who has undertaken three tours of duty. He has two research degrees on the exotic (but politically, surprisingly useful) subject of Québec history.
In addition to past roles in publishing, heritage, teaching and national security, he has advised three shadow foreign secretaries, a number of other front benchers and a delegate to the Council of Europe. He was Campaign Secretary for Conservatives Against a Federal Europe (CAFE); chief elf to one of the two UK parliamentary delegates on the Convention on the Future of Europe; and ran Opposition Research for the ‘No to AV’ referendum campaign. Co-author of the hit Bumper Books of Government Waste, he helped set the agenda over public spending excesses. He was also one of the three main authors behind the magisterial review of EU policies, Change, or Go. Extensively published, some of his more recent works include The EU in a Nutshell (foreword by Dr David Starkey); A Fate Worse Than Debt – A History of Britain’s National Debt from Boadicea to Cameron; The Sassenach’s Escape Manual; a Spotter’s Guide to right wing policies; and historical travel guides to Roman Britain, colonial North America, and the Hundred Years War. More information on his work can still be found online from a failed bid to take over the world. |
Tim Philpott is a campaigner and researcher with several years’ experience working with various centre-right campaigning groups. He has a master’s degree in History from King’s College London.
Currently working in the House of Commons, he is planning and publishing a number of papers. Prior to this, he spent two years as a policy analyst for prominent Eurosceptic campaign group Business for Britain, authoring three policy papers on a variety of subjects, including VAT, the problems inherent in the European Parliament and the effects of EU legislation on the UK legal system. He also contributed a significant portion of research towards Change, or Go, Business for Britain’s flagship publication. Most recently, he campaigned during the EU Referendum with Veterans For Britain. More information on his work can be found in the Tim Philpott research archive. |
